Rams vs Texans Prediction, Picks & Odds for This Week’s NFL Preseason Game

The final week of the NFL preseason continues Saturday afternoon with a matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans.

These two teams, like many others across the league, held a joint practice this week that heavily featured starters. However, it’s unlikely we’ll see any of them in this game.

As a result, my Rams vs. Texans predictions lean toward a low-scoring affair. Find out more in our NFL picks for August 24.

My best betUnder 34.5 (-115 at FanDuel)

My analysis

The Los Angeles Rams have only played one quarterback for the entirety of the preseason, and that is second-year man Stetson Bennett. With Matthew Stafford as the obvious starter and Jimmy Garoppolo as the clear-cut backup, Sean McVay is trying to get Bennett as much experience as possible.

Unfortunately for the former Georgia Bulldogs star, Bennett threw four interceptions in a 13-12 win over the Cowboys and then registered both a pick and a fumble in a 13-9 win over the Chargers.

Meanwhile, we will likely see Davis Mills get the start for the Houston Texans, with Case Keenum and Tim Boyle finishing things off. Another battle to watch will be at the running back position for the Texans, as Cam Akers is fighting for a roster spot with Dare Ogunbowale and rookie Jawhar Jordan. Houston will also see receivers Robert Woods and Ben Skowronek battling it out on the depth chart.

The Rams have pulled out some ugly low-scoring wins in their first two preseason games, and I will stick the Under considering the Texans have also held their opponents to low totals in each of the last two weeks.

His best piece of sports betting advice is to stick to consistent unit sizes for every wager. He acknowledges there will occasionally be a bet that has a huge EV and you can play multiple units in one bet, but cautions against raising your unit size, because you can quickly lose all your winnings if you hit a minor cold streak.
